Maubara lies on the north coast of Timor-Leste, in Liquiçá municipality, west of Dili. The town stretches along the shore where a narrow coastal strip meets steep, forested hills. The main coastal road runs straight through, and most streets branch off it for only a short distance before the land begins to rise.
Maubara's history is unusual: it spent part of the colonial era under Dutch rather than Portuguese control, and a small stone fort by the sea remains from that period. Inland, a lake sits in the lowlands behind the coast, adding another body of water to the map alongside the open sea.
A Maubara map poster is defined by its edges. The coastline forms a long, clean line across the composition, the town spreads thinly along it, and the hills behind leave broad open space. It is a spare, horizontal map that feels calm and grounded on the wall.
The shore of the Savu and Banda sea region curves along the top of the map, forming the poster's strongest and most continuous line.
A single main road runs parallel to the shore, and the town is strung out along it, giving Maubara its elongated form.
A lake lies in the lowland behind the coast, appearing as a quiet, rounded shape that balances the long line of the sea.
