Meerpet lies on the southeastern side of the Hyderabad metropolitan area in Telangana. It is a rapidly grown residential suburb in Rangareddy district. From above, it is dense and fine-grained: a mesh of narrow streets and colony lanes, laid out in blocks of different orientations as each housing area was developed. Main roads cut through the mesh and connect it to the wider city.
Like much of the Hyderabad region, the area includes lakes, the traditional tanks that once stored water for farming and are now surrounded by housing. On the map, they appear as smooth open shapes in the middle of the dense street pattern, the most distinctive features in an otherwise busy layout.
