Menuma lies in the north of Saitama Prefecture, on the southern bank of the Tone River, which forms the boundary with Gunma. It was once a separate town and became part of Kumagaya in 2005. On a map, the area is flat, with a mix of residential streets, farmland and roads running toward the river.
Menuma is best known for Menuma Shōden-dō, a temple hall covered in elaborate wood carvings, designated a National Treasure of Japan. The hall sits in the older part of the district. The map shows a denser grid of streets around it, then fields and scattered houses toward the river.
A Menuma map poster captures a quieter side of the Kanto Plain. The broad line of the Tone River runs along one edge, and a patchwork of streets and fields fills the rest. The composition is open, gentle and balanced, and it suits the calm character of the place.
The wide Tone River runs along the northern edge of the district, marking the prefectural boundary with Gunma and anchoring the map.
Streets gather around Menuma Shōden-dō, the carved temple hall at the historic heart of the area, forming its densest cluster.
Flat fields and small settlements cover much of the district, leaving open, regular patterns across the rest of the frame.

For people from Menuma or those drawn to its temple, a map of this riverside district is a subtle keepsake. It records a place that kept its own identity after merging into Kumagaya.
