Mikumi is a small town in the Morogoro region of Tanzania, on the main highway running west from Dar es Salaam toward Iringa and Zambia. It lies at the edge of Mikumi National Park, and the highway passes directly through the park, so travellers often see giraffes, zebras and elephants from the road. The town serves as a stop for trucks and buses and as a base for visitors to the park.
On the map, the highway is the defining line. Mikumi stretches along it, with shops, guesthouses and fuel stations lining the road, and residential streets branching off behind them. To one side the country opens into the wide plains of the park, and to the south the land rises toward the Udzungwa Mountains.
A Mikumi map poster shows a town in two directions at once: along the road connecting the coast with the interior, and outward toward the wild landscape. The design is simple and clear, with one strong route, a short strip of built-up streets and large open spaces on either side. It is a reminder of journeys and safaris.
The main road from the coast to the interior runs straight through town. It is the axis along which Mikumi grew and the line the whole map is built around.
Buildings and side streets cluster along both sides of the highway. They form a long, narrow settlement typical of towns that grew up around traffic.
The national park spreads out beyond the town as wide, open land. On the poster, this calm space emphasises how small the settlement is.

Ko e hā ʻa Mikumi
Many people pass through Mikumi on the way to a safari or a long road trip, and some stay for years to work in the park or along the highway. A map records that crossing point between the road and the wild.
Add a title, a safari date or a name in the subtitle, and keep or edit the coordinates. Sand suits the savannah. Blueprint and Classic black & white bring out the clean line of the highway.
