New Jeshwang is part of the urban area around Banjul in The Gambia, in the Kanifing municipality near Serrekunda. It is one of the neighbourhoods that has grown quickly as the country's main urban region has expanded. From above, it is a dense, fairly regular pattern of plots and lanes on flat ground.
The streets here are mostly short and close together, many of them unpaved, with a few larger roads carrying traffic towards Serrekunda, Banjul and the coast. Compounds fill the blocks between them.
