Niwai sits in Tonk district in eastern Rajasthan, on the flat plain that stretches south from Jaipur. From above, the town is a tight cluster of lanes packed around a few main roads. Around it, the grid of fields and scattered settlements goes on in every direction. The line where dense streets meet open land is sharp, which gives the town a clear outline on paper.
Two long lines shape the map. The highway between Jaipur and Tonk passes the town, and the railway towards Sawai Madhopur runs close by.
