Postwar street layout
Blocks of single-family houses follow a mix of grids and curves typical of mid-century Long Island development. They create a fine, even texture across the sheet.

North Bellmore is a hamlet in the Town of Hempstead, in Nassau County on Long Island. Most of its streets were laid out during the suburban expansion that followed the Second World War. From above, it is almost entirely residential: short blocks, cul-de-sacs and gently curving lanes filling the land between longer avenues.
Major north–south roads cut through the neighbourhoods and link the hamlet with its neighbours. The parkway network that carries traffic to Long Island's southern beaches runs close by. School grounds and small parks leave lighter openings in an otherwise even street pattern.
A North Bellmore map poster is a good example of how varied an American suburb can look in plan. Straight avenues sit beside looping side streets, and the print shows exactly where a childhood home or a first house was.

Long, straight roads cross the hamlet and connect it to neighbouring communities. They divide the residential pattern into clear sections.
Long Island's parkways run close to the hamlet. Their broad, sweeping curves contrast with the small blocks around them.

Ko e hā ʻa North Bellmore
People hang North Bellmore maps to remember the street they grew up on or to mark the first home they bought. Compared with a photograph, a map feels more lasting and less sentimental.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised, for example with a family name, a street or a move-in date. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
