Norwalk is the county seat of Huron County, in northern Ohio, a short distance south of Lake Erie. The surrounding land is flat and agricultural, and the city forms a compact settlement in a wide landscape of farms. From above, its streets follow a regular grid, with Main Street running east to west through the centre.
Along Main Street, the map shows the downtown blocks and, to the west, a long stretch of large residential lots. Railway lines and state routes cross the city, adding diagonals to the grid.
