Oýrat lies in the Daşoguz region of northern Turkmenistan, in the irrigated lowlands near the lower course of the Amu Darya. The land here is flat, and from above the settlement shows a relatively compact grid of streets surrounded by a wide expanse of agricultural land.
What defines the map is water management. Irrigation canals and ditches cross the countryside in long, straight lines, dividing the land into rectangular fields for cotton, wheat and other crops. Roads often run alongside the canals, reinforcing the geometric pattern, and the whole area is a rare green patch in a largely arid region.
An Oýrat map poster brings out this orderly, man-made landscape. The settlement sits at the centre, while straight canals and field boundaries fill the rest of the frame with a clean, repeating texture. It is a quiet print, rooted in the agricultural life of the Daşoguz oasis.
Long, straight channels cross the flat land, carrying water from the river system and forming the dominant lines of the map.
Farmland is divided into regular plots, creating a geometric patchwork that fills much of the space around the settlement.
The built-up area forms a small, dense grid within the agricultural landscape, clearly defined against the open fields.
