Palmira lies on the eastern side of the Cauca River valley, a short distance from Cali, on some of the flattest and most fertile land in Colombia. From above, its colonial-era grid is remarkably regular, with square blocks spreading outward from the central plaza, and the surrounding countryside is a patchwork of large sugarcane plantations.
Known as the Villa de las Palmas, the city has long been tied to agriculture, and the research campus of the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT lies nearby. Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport, which serves Cali, sits within Palmira's municipality, and the foothills of the Central Cordillera rise to the east.
A Palmira map poster shows how clearly a Spanish colonial grid can survive and expand. The blocks continue in steady rows, broken only by main avenues and parks, and they end abruptly where the cane fields begin. The composition is calm and orderly, a strong choice for anyone who likes graphic regularity.
Square blocks extend in regular rows from the central plaza, one of the clearest and most consistent street grids in the Cauca Valley.
The built-up area ends sharply where plantations begin, giving the city a crisp outline surrounded by open, regular agricultural land.
To the east, the land rises toward the Central Cordillera, while the valley floor around the city stays flat and open toward Cali.

Palmira's orderly grid makes a composed, quiet print, well suited to anyone who grew up among its blocks or has family in the Valle del Cauca. It works equally well in a hallway, a study or a dining room.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, writing the name in Spanish if you prefer, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9, or order the poster printed and shipped.
