Pearl River is a hamlet in the town of Orangetown, in Rockland County, just north of the New Jersey line. From above it is a dense, mostly residential grid of tree-lined blocks, with a main commercial street near the railroad station and a pattern of shorter streets and loops filling in the neighbourhoods around it.
The railway cutting through town is one of the defining lines on the map, and it explains much of the hamlet's growth as a commuter community.
