Pitou is a rural township in southern Changhua County, on the broad alluvial plain of western Taiwan. From above there is no single dense centre. Instead the map shows several small clusters of streets, linked by country roads and surrounded by fields.
Farming has shaped the layout. Irrigation canals and ditches run in long straight lines, field boundaries form rough rectangles, and village lanes wind between them. Roads here tend to follow old field edges and water channels rather than a planned grid, so the pattern is fine-grained and a little irregular.
