Pokok Sena is a district and small town in Kedah, north-east of the state capital, Alor Setar. It lies on the edge of the broad lowland that has made Kedah known as Malaysia's rice bowl. From above, the country is a patchwork of flat paddy land and kampung settlements strung along roads and waterways. Toward the east the ground rises into wooded hills.
The town centre is modest: a few intersecting streets, shophouses, schools and mosques. Most of the district's built form is spread out.
