Pompéu lies in central Minas Gerais, in the open country north-west of Belo Horizonte where the cerrado rolls in long, low swells. From above the town is a tidy cluster of blocks with a main commercial axis, a church square and residential streets that loosen as they reach the edges. Past that, the lines on the map thin out into highways, dirt roads and the branching patterns of streams.
Its surroundings belong to the São Francisco river basin, and the land beyond town is threaded with creeks, lines of gallery forest and farm boundaries. Cattle ranching has long shaped the area, which explains the large properties and long straight tracks that divide the countryside into broad parcels rather than a fine mesh. On paper the effect is spacious and calm.
The name carries a local legend: Dona Joaquina do Pompéu, a landowner of the late colonial period remembered as one of the most powerful figures of her time in Minas Gerais. A Pompéu map poster shows the present-day town, a compact centre surrounded by open land, and leaves room for the stories people bring to it.
Blocks gather around the main church square and commercial streets, forming a dense knot that stands out clearly against the empty paper of the surrounding countryside.
Highways and rural roads leave town in several directions, drawing long, thin lines that link Pompéu to neighbouring municipalities and to farms scattered across the cerrado.
Small watercourses of the São Francisco basin branch through the land around the town, adding soft, irregular lines that contrast with the straight grid of the streets.

Mineiros who have left for the capital or abroad often keep a picture of home, and a street map is one of the most honest versions of it: the square, the streets walked every day, the roads out of town. The minimalist drawing makes a small place feel substantial on a wall.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a family name or the year you left, and adjust the coordinates line. Then pick one of five styles, from Classic black & white and Noir to Paper, Blueprint or the warm Sand palette.
