Ponta Delgada is the largest city of the Azores and sits on the south coast of São Miguel, in the middle of the Atlantic. From above, the city is a long band pressed against the sea. A seafront avenue and a breakwater-sheltered harbour and marina run along its edge, and a grid of streets spreads loosely inland.
The historic centre is compact, with churches, small squares and narrow streets paved in black basalt and white stone. The three arches of the Portas da Cidade, the old city gates, face the waterfront. West of the centre the airport runway cuts a straight line across the land, and green volcanic country rises beyond the suburbs.
The island's crater lakes at Sete Cidades lie to the west, and Ponta Delgada serves as the starting point for most visits to them. A Ponta Delgada map poster holds the whole relationship between the ocean and the town: the curve of the shoreline, the harbour wall, and the streets reaching back towards the island's volcanic interior.
A long protective arm encloses the port and marina, forming a strong geometric line against the open Atlantic along the southern edge of the city.
The three-arched city gates stand on the square at the heart of the waterfront, the point where the old centre meets the promenade.
The straight runway to the west of the centre is one of the clearest features on the map, a single bold stroke between city and countryside.

Ko e hā ʻa Ponta Delgada
Ponta Delgada is often where an Azores journey begins, and for many it is where a family's emigrant story began. A map of the waterfront and old streets keeps that Atlantic setting in clear, precise lines.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a travel date, and the coordinates line. Blueprint and Paper suit a harbour city well, and the full set of five styles is available as a $9 HD download or a printed poster.
