Quxu is a county in the Lhasa area of Tibet, southwest of the city, lying along the broad valley of the Yarlung Tsangpo. The Lhasa River joins the Yarlung Tsangpo in this area, and on a map the braided river channels, sandbars and valley floor dominate the composition, framed by high, bare mountains.
The county town is small, with a compact grid of streets set on flat land near the river. Roads follow the valley toward Lhasa and toward other parts of the region, forming long straight lines that trace the easiest routes through the mountains.
The county is home to Nyetang Drolma Lhakhang, a temple associated with the Indian teacher Atisha, who spent his final years in the area. A Quxu map poster captures a landscape shaped almost entirely by water and mountains, with the town a small, precise mark within it.
The Lhasa River meets the Yarlung Tsangpo here, and their braided channels and sandbars create wide, intricate shapes on the map.
Roads run along the valley floor, following the rivers toward Lhasa and beyond, forming the clearest human lines in the landscape.
The county town is a small grid set on flat land by the river, a neat pattern within the wide valley.

Ko e hā ʻa Quxu
Quxu appeals to travellers who crossed the Tibetan plateau and to anyone drawn to mountain landscapes. The braided rivers make an unusual, almost abstract print.
You can set your own title, subtitle and date, and adjust the coordinates. Choose from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, where Noir brings out the river channels.
