Reinheim lies in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district of southern Hesse, along the Gersprenz river. The town is made up of a main settlement and several smaller districts, spread across the valley floor and its gentle edges. From above, the winding river and the surrounding fields give the map a calm, open feel.
The Odenwald railway passes through, linking Reinheim with Darmstadt and towns further into the hills, and its line draws a steady curve across the landscape.
