San Andrés Xecul is a town in the department of Totonicapán, in the western highlands of Guatemala, not far from Quetzaltenango. It sits on a steep hillside above a valley, and the map reflects that setting. The town is known for its church, whose bright yellow facade is covered with painted figures of angels, animals, plants and other motifs, making it one of the most photographed churches in Guatemala.
