Saray is a settlement in the Absheron District of Azerbaijan, on the peninsula that reaches into the Caspian Sea around Baku. It lies inland from the coast, between the capital and the industrial city of Sumqayit. The landscape is flat and sparse, shaped by a dry climate, with little natural shade.
On a map, Saray is made up of low-rise neighbourhoods laid out in a mostly regular pattern, with plots, gardens and walled courtyards typical of Absheron villages. Main roads link it to Baku and Sumqayit, and the highways crossing the peninsula frame the settlement on several sides.
