Sarcelles lies in the Val-d'Oise, a few kilometres north of Paris, on gently sloping ground drained by the small Petit Rosne stream. From above, the commune reads as two distinct towns. To the north is the old village, with narrow, irregular streets gathered around the church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul. To the south and east lies a much larger planned district of long residential blocks set among open space.
That planned district is the grand ensemble of Sarcelles-Lochères, begun in the mid-1950s and one of the first large housing estates in France. It was so widely discussed that the word sarcellite was coined to describe the unease of life in new suburban blocks. On a map its geometry is unmistakable: long straight slabs, towers and wide lawns in place of streets lined with facades.
Today the town is diverse, with communities from many parts of the world. A Sarcelles map poster also shows the transport lines that tie it to the capital, including the RER station shared with Garges and the tram that runs south toward Saint-Denis, along with the parks and sports grounds woven between the estates.
North of the estates, Sarcelles-Village keeps its irregular medieval street pattern around the parish church, a small cluster of lanes that contrasts with the modern plan beside it.
Long residential slabs and towers set in open space form one of France's earliest post-war housing estates, drawn on the map as a bold, rhythmic geometry.
The RER line and the tram toward Saint-Denis cut across the commune, showing how closely Sarcelles is tied to the wider Paris region.

Ko e hā ʻa Sarcelles
Sarcelles is a place many people grew up in, and its map shows the whole story at once: village streets, a famous planned estate, the lines leading into Paris. It hangs well in a first flat and says something personal about where someone comes from.
You can set your own title, a subtitle such as a neighbourhood or a date, and a coordinates line. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
