Sendamangalam is in the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu, on the plain north of Namakkal town. The Kolli Hills rise to the east, a steep, isolated range that is visible from much of the surrounding countryside. On a map, the town is a dense knot of streets where several roads meet, surrounded by farmland and scattered water tanks.
The older centre has a tight network of narrow streets around temples and markets. Newer residential areas spread along the main roads leaving town. Outside the settlement, irrigation tanks and field boundaries form an irregular patchwork, crossed by roads running towards Namakkal, Rasipuram and the villages at the foot of the hills.
