Sewell is an unincorporated community in Gloucester County, New Jersey, spread across parts of Mantua and Washington Townships, southeast of Philadelphia. It is not a town with a single centre but a suburban area that grew over decades as farmland was gradually replaced by housing developments, shopping areas and schools.
From above, Sewell shows the typical pattern of late twentieth-century American suburbs: curving residential streets, loops and cul-de-sacs arranged within larger blocks bounded by older country roads.
