Sunel lies in Jhalawar district in the southeastern corner of Rajasthan, close to the border with Madhya Pradesh. It is a compact town. Its older centre is a knot of narrow lanes and closely built houses, while roads run out through farmland towards neighbouring villages and the district towns.
