Tarn Taran lies in the Majha region of Punjab, south of Amritsar, on flat, heavily farmed land watered by canals. The town's map has a clear centre: the Sri Tarn Taran Sahib gurdwara and its large rectangular sarovar, the holy water tank around which the old town grew.
The gurdwara was founded by Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Sikh Guru, in the late sixteenth century, and its sarovar is among the largest of any gurdwara. On the map, the tank is a broad open rectangle, with a walkway around it and tightly packed streets pressing in from every side.
Beyond the old centre, newer districts and main roads extend toward Amritsar and neighbouring towns, and the surrounding countryside breaks into a grid of fields and villages. A Tarn Taran map poster places the sacred tank at the centre of a working agricultural town, the way it has stood for more than four centuries.
A vast rectangular pool fills the centre of the old town, the largest open shape on the map and the focus of every approach.
Narrow streets and bazaars press closely around the gurdwara complex, forming a dense, irregular web around the tank.
Around the town, flat fields and canal lines spread out in a regular pattern, dotted with village clusters.

Ko e hā ʻa Tarn Taran
For Sikh families and anyone with roots in Majha, Tarn Taran carries deep meaning, and the gurdwara's sarovar makes the map instantly recognisable. It makes a thoughtful gift for a new home or a family occasion.
Write the title in English or Gurmukhi-inspired wording, add a family name or date in the subtitle and adjust the coordinates. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand gives the tank and lanes a warm, calm tone.
