Tiffin is the county seat of Seneca County in northwest Ohio. The Sandusky River winds north through the middle of the city, and the downtown grid sits on both banks, joined by a few short bridges. Around the centre, the pattern is the classic Midwestern one: straight residential streets, evenly sized blocks and farmland that begins where the city limits end.
Tiffin is a college town twice over. Heidelberg University, founded in 1850, and Tiffin University both have campuses in the city, with quads and athletic fields that make open green shapes on the map. The city also has a long industrial history, including a glassworks whose Tiffin Glass is still collected today.
