Tizimín stands on the limestone plain of eastern Yucatán, where the ground is almost completely flat and there are no surface rivers. Water in this region moves underground through the karst. As a result, the map has no natural lines to interrupt the streets. The town is a regular grid of numbered blocks, the usual pattern in Yucatán, and it extends evenly in every direction from the centre.
The town is known as a centre of cattle ranching in the state. Its ex-convent and church dedicated to the Three Kings stand near the main square. The yearly fair honouring the Reyes Magos, held around Epiphany, draws visitors from across the peninsula. North of town, roads lead towards the coast and the lagoons of Río Lagartos.
A Tizimín map poster is a study in regularity. Square blocks repeat to the edges of town, and then the grid gives way to straight roads crossing open land. It is quiet and geometric, and very much a map of the Yucatán plain.
The streets follow the classic Yucatecan pattern of evenly spaced blocks, which makes the town appear as a clean, repeating lattice.
The main square and the former convent of the Reyes Magos anchor the grid at the heart of the town.
Straight routes leave town across flat ranchland, several of them heading north towards the Gulf shore and Río Lagartos.

Ko e hā ʻa Tizimín
For people from eastern Yucatán, Tizimín means the January fair, family ranches and the plaza on a warm evening. Its orderly street plan makes a naturally handsome print that looks at home in any room.
Change the title, add a subtitle such as a family name or a year, and choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand works well with the warm plain.
