Ugep is the main town of the Yakurr area in Cross River State, in southeastern Nigeria. It is often described as one of the largest villages in West Africa, because it grew from a traditional settlement and not as a planned city. From above, it appears as a compact, dense cluster of streets and compounds.
A few main roads enter the town and link it to the rest of the state, and within the town a finer network of streets and lanes connects the different quarters. Farmland and green vegetation surround the settlement on all sides.
Ugep is widely known for the Leboku festival, the annual new yam celebration that draws visitors from across the region. An Ugep map poster shows the town as a single tight settlement, with roads reaching out into the land that supports it.
The town is built as one dense cluster, and its street network thins out quickly at the edges where the surrounding farmland begins.
The main routes leave the town in several directions and link Ugep with other communities in Cross River State. They give the map a clear structure.
Fields and vegetation surround the town on every side, which makes the built-up area stand out as a distinct shape on the page.

Ko e hā ʻa Ugep
For people from Ugep, including those living far away, the town is closely tied to family and the festival season. A map of its streets is a quiet, lasting way to keep that tie.
You can add a title, a subtitle such as a family name or festival year, and the coordinates. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
