Usehat is a small town in the Budaun district of western Uttar Pradesh, on the wide, flat alluvial plain of the Ganges basin. The land here is intensively farmed, and from above, the town appears as a tight cluster of streets in a sea of fields.
The plan has grown without a formal grid. Narrow lanes bend and branch through the older part of town, while wider roads run outward to surrounding villages and district centres. On a black-and-white print, the density of the centre contrasts strongly with the sparse lines of the open farmland.
