Vanves is a commune in the Hauts-de-Seine department, directly on the southern edge of Paris just beyond the boulevard périphérique. It covers a small area and is one of the more densely populated communes in France, and the map shows it. Short streets, tightly packed blocks and very little open land run continuously into the city on the other side of the ring road.
The railway from Gare Montparnasse cuts across the commune on its way south-west, drawing a broad band through the streets. Among the dense blocks, one of the largest open spaces belongs to the Lycée Michelet, whose grounds occupy the park of a former seventeenth-century château. The Parc Frédéric-Pic adds another patch of green nearby.
A Vanves map poster fits the way people live here, close to Paris but distinct from it. The périphérique forms a firm line along one edge and the railway another. Between them are the streets of a small town that has kept its own centre. For residents, students and former Parisians, it is a precise and understated keepsake.
The ring road around Paris runs along the commune's northern edge as a heavy line on the map. It separates Vanves from the city, although the streets continue across without a break.
The main line out of Gare Montparnasse crosses Vanves as a wide corridor of tracks. It divides the street pattern and gives the composition a strong diagonal.
The grounds of the Lycée Michelet, laid out around a former château, form one of the largest open spaces in the commune. They offer a welcome pause in the dense grid.

Vanves is often described by its position relative to Paris, but people who live here know its streets, markets and school gates on their own terms. This map gives the commune the attention usually reserved for the capital, which is exactly why residents like it.
Add a street name, a moving date or a short line in French to the title and subtitle, and keep the coordinates as a discreet footer. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, then download the $9 HD set or order a matte print.
