Vilyuchinsk lies on the southern shore of Avacha Bay, across the water from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, on Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula. On a map the town follows the coastline of a sheltered inlet, with residential blocks set in rows along the slopes and a road running along the water toward the harbour areas. Steep, wooded hills rise immediately behind.
The town is a closed administrative territory and home to a major base of the Russian Pacific Fleet's nuclear submarine force, which is why access is restricted. It takes its name from the Vilyuchinsky volcano, a snow-capped cone visible to the south. Avacha Bay itself is one of the largest natural harbours in the world.
A Vilyuchinsk map poster is defined by the meeting of water and slope. The bay fills a large part of the sheet, the town forms a narrow band of streets along its edge, and the surrounding hills give the composition a rugged frame. For those who served or lived here, it is a place few others will ever see, which makes the map especially personal.
The town stretches along the edge of a sheltered inlet of Avacha Bay, one of the world's largest natural harbours, with water filling much of the map.
Residential buildings sit in regular rows on the hillside above the shore, a clear, stepped pattern typical of Soviet-era planning.
A road follows the shoreline, connecting the residential district with the harbour areas and giving the map a long, curving line.

Vilyuchinsk is home to naval families, and many people carry memories of years spent there during service. Because the town is closed to most visitors, a map is often the clearest way to show others where you lived.
Add a title in Russian or English, a subtitle with years of service or family names, and edit the coordinates line. Choose among five styles, Classic black & white to Sand, and download files for $9 or order a print.
