Watari lies on the Pacific coast of Miyagi Prefecture, a short distance south of Sendai. The Abukuma River reaches the sea at its northern edge. From above, the town has three clear bands: a long, straight coastline, a flat coastal plain of farmland and settlements, and wooded hills along the western side.
The coastal plain was heavily damaged by the 2011 tsunami, and the rebuilt landscape shows new embankments, relocated neighbourhoods and restored farmland. Watari is well known for its strawberry farms and for hokkigai, the surf clams served over rice as a local speciality.
A Watari map poster sets the town between sea and hills, with the rail line and roads running north toward Sendai. It records a place defined by its coast, its farming and its steady recovery.
The Pacific shore runs in a long, almost unbroken line, giving the map a clean eastern edge and a wide expanse of sea.
To the north, the Abukuma River meets the ocean, adding a broad, curving waterway to the composition.
A line of wooded hills rises behind the plain, where the flat grid of fields and streets gives way to softer terrain.

Ko e hā ʻa Watari
For residents and those who left after 2011, a map of Watari holds both memory and continuity: the coast, the fields and the streets as they are today. It is a meaningful gift for family and for people involved in the recovery.
Add a personal title, a subtitle with a name or date, and the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the clear lines of the coast.
