Yabuki is a town in the Nishishirakawa District of Fukushima Prefecture, in the inland Nakadori region of Tohoku. From above, the town centre is gathered around its railway station on the Tohoku Main Line, with shopping streets and residential blocks surrounded by a wide landscape of rice fields and low wooded hills.
Beyond the centre, the land is a patchwork of paddies, farmsteads and forest, crossed by rural roads, rivers and irrigation channels. The regular geometry of the rice fields gives the map a particularly fine, textured look that is typical of the Japanese countryside.
A Yabuki map poster captures this balance between a compact town and the farmland around it. It is a fitting keepsake for people from the town and for anyone with a connection to this quiet corner of Fukushima.
The town centre is built around the railway station, with the main streets running parallel to the tracks and the densest blocks close by.
Paddy fields surround the town in small rectangular plots, their regular pattern forming a delicate texture across much of the map.
Low forested hills rise around the farmland, their slopes leaving irregular, open areas where roads curve along the valleys.

Ko e hā ʻa Yabuki
A map of Yabuki suits someone who grew up there, who has family in the area or who has lived in Fukushima for work. The simple lines of the town and its fields have a calm quality that works well in a Japanese-style interior.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download the files in six print sizes for $9, or order a printed poster.
