Three-river confluence
The Katsura, Uji and Kizu rivers meet to form the Yodo. Their broad channels and embankments create the map's most striking feature.

Yawata lies in southern Kyoto Prefecture, between Kyoto and Osaka. It sits at the point where the Katsura, Uji and Kizu rivers meet to form the Yodo, which then flows on toward Osaka Bay. On a map this confluence dominates: three broad channels converging just north of the city, with long embankments along their banks.
Above the city rises Mount Otoko, a small wooded hill topped by Iwashimizu Hachimangū. This shrine, founded in the ninth century, has long been one of the most important Hachiman shrines in Japan. A cable car and walking paths lead up the slope. The bamboo groves in the area are also known for supplying the filament Thomas Edison used in early electric light bulbs.
Much of Yawata today is residential, with neighbourhoods spreading south and east from the hill and the rivers. A Yawata map poster brings together the converging rivers, the green mass of Mount Otoko and the fine grid of housing beyond, forming a composition with a strong natural focus.
The Katsura, Uji and Kizu rivers meet to form the Yodo. Their broad channels and embankments create the map's most striking feature.
The wooded hill topped by Iwashimizu Hachimangū rises beside the rivers. On the map it appears as a green, contoured mass above the city.
A long embankment runs between two of the rivers and is lined with cherry trees. It draws a thin, straight line through the water.

Yawata suits people who live between Kyoto and Osaka, visitors to Iwashimizu Hachimangū, and anyone who has walked under the cherry trees on the embankment. Add a title, a date in the subtitle, and keep the coordinates line.
Paper gives the map a calm, understated feel, while Noir makes the rivers stand out in pale lines on black. The $9 digital files include six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF. A free watermarked preview lets you check the layout first.
