Yingqiu is a town in Changle County, part of Weifang in Shandong province, on the broad plain that stretches inland from the Bohai coast. The land here is flat and intensively farmed, so straight lines dominate the map. Roads run on near-cardinal bearings, and field boundaries and irrigation channels divide the countryside into long rectangles.
The built-up area forms a compact core of closely spaced streets. Factories, housing blocks and village clusters are scattered around it. Like many towns in this part of northern China, it has grown quickly in recent decades. The newer roads are wide and regular, laid out on purpose rather than shaped by the terrain.
