The coast of Nakagusuku Bay forms a clear line along one side of the town. Reclaimed land and waterfront roads give it clean, defined edges.

Yonabaru is a town on the east coast of Okinawa Island, facing Nakagusuku Bay. On a map, it's a compact settlement squeezed between the shoreline and the rising ground inland. The streets are dense near the water and spread out along roads that climb toward the island's interior.
The town is known for the Yonabaru Great Tug-of-War, a traditional festival in which huge ropes are pulled through the streets. Before the Second World War, Yonabaru was also a terminus of the Okinawa Prefectural Railway. The line was never rebuilt, but it's still part of local memory.
A Yonabaru map poster shows the meeting of sea and slope in a small frame. The coastline makes a firm edge, and the lanes and newer residential areas fill the ground behind it in an irregular pattern.
The coast of Nakagusuku Bay forms a clear line along one side of the town. Reclaimed land and waterfront roads give it clean, defined edges.
The older part of town has narrow streets and small blocks close to the water. Together they form a fine, dense texture on the print.
Roads climb away from the coast into hillier ground. The street pattern loosens and curves with the terrain there.

For anyone who has watched the Great Tug-of-War or lived on this side of Okinawa, the map is a quiet record of a specific stretch of coast. It works as well in a family home as in a travel collection.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised, perhaps with a festival year. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
