Yunji is a town in the Chongqing municipality of southwest China, set in the rolling hill country east of the central city. The terrain here is folded and uneven, and it shapes the map at every scale: roads rarely run straight, settlements follow the lines of valleys, and cultivated land fits itself around slopes rather than across them.
The town's streets cluster where the ground allows, forming a compact centre with lanes that spread along the contours. Outside it, the landscape breaks into small fields, scattered houses and streams, with larger roads threading between hills to connect neighbouring towns.
