Bergstraße edge
The town lies along the boundary between the flat Rhine plain and the rising Odenwald, a transition visible in how the straight streets give way to curving lanes.

Bensheim Map Poster & Print
Bensheim is a town in southern Hesse, on the Bergstraße, the old route that follows the western edge of the Odenwald hills above the Rhine plain. From above, the town lies exactly on this line: flat land and straight roads to the west, rising wooded and vineyard slopes to the east. Its old town is a compact knot of streets near the centre.
The historic centre has many half-timbered buildings and a market square, and the Bergstraße is known for its mild climate and early spring. Above the district of Auerbach stand the ruins of Auerbach Castle, and below it lies the Fürstenlager, a landscaped park created as a summer retreat for the Hessian court.
A Bensheim map poster captures a town set between plain and hills. The straight lines of roads and railway on the plain contrast with the curving lanes and vineyard terraces on the slopes, while the old town's dense centre sits in the middle. In black and white, the transition from flat to hilly is especially striking.
