Bergkamen Map Poster & Print
Bergkamen lies on the northeastern edge of the Ruhr, between the Lippe valley and the town of Kamen. It was created in 1966 by merging several separate communities, and the map still shows that origin clearly. Instead of one continuous town, there are distinct neighbourhoods separated by fields, woods and former industrial land. The Datteln–Hamm Canal crosses the area in a long, straight line.
Coal mining shaped Bergkamen for much of the twentieth century, and former colliery sites remain part of its landscape. Since the mines closed, some of that land has become parks and landscaped spoil heaps, and the marina at Rünthe on the canal has become a centre for boating and leisure. These changes show up on the map as new open spaces.
A Bergkamen map poster presents the town as a cluster of settlements linked by roads and water. The canal provides a strong horizontal line, and the green spaces between districts give the composition an open, loose structure. It is a map of a place reinventing itself after industry, and that change is visible in its layout.

Marina Rünthe
The marina on the canal forms a distinctive basin on the map and has become one of the town's main places for leisure and waterside walks.
Separate districts
The former villages merged in 1966 remain visually distinct. Each is a cluster of streets divided from the next by fields, woodland and post-industrial green space.

Anlam taşıyan bir harita
Bergkamen suits people with roots in the Ruhr's mining communities, or anyone who knows the town from walks along the canal. Its scattered layout, with gaps between districts, makes a map that feels more like a landscape than a dense city plan.
