Hilltop bazaar
The commercial heart of the town sits on high ground, where streets are most concentrated before thinning out into paths across the slopes.

Dailekh Map Poster & Print
Dailekh is the headquarters of Dailekh District in Nepal's Karnali Province, set in the middle hills of the country's far west. The town occupies high ground above the surrounding valleys, and on a map its streets follow the lie of the land closely. A central bazaar area gives way to lanes and paths that curve along the slopes, while roads switchback down towards the rivers below.
The district is widely known for its natural flames, places where gas escapes from the ground and burns continuously. Several of these sites are revered as shrines and draw pilgrims from across the region. The area also has historic ties to the medieval Khasa kingdom of western Nepal, and old temples and stone monuments are found throughout the surrounding hills.
A Dailekh map poster shows how a mountain town adapts to its setting. With no flat surface to build on, the street plan becomes a set of contour-hugging lines, and the roads leaving town fold back on themselves as they descend. In monochrome the landscape reads almost like a relief drawing, even though no shading is used.

Switchback roads
Roads leaving Dailekh zigzag down the hillsides in tight turns, drawn as folded lines that reveal the steepness of the terrain without any contours.
River valleys below
Rivers and streams run through the valleys beneath the town, curving lines that set the lower edge of the map and frame the settlement above.
