Old Town grid
The historic centre has a small, regular grid of streets. Its French origins still show in the layout and street names.

Florissant Map Poster & Print
Florissant lies in north St. Louis County, south of the Missouri River. On the map, most of the city consists of postwar residential streets, with curving drives and cul-de-sacs. In the old part of town, near the centre, a small grid of older streets survives.
Florissant was founded in the late 18th century by French settlers, and Old Town Florissant preserves buildings and street names from that period. The city grew rapidly in the decades after the Second World War. That growth accounts for its large residential areas.
A Florissant map poster shows these two layers of history: the compact, gridded old town, and the looser, curved streets of the suburbs around it. The river's floodplain to the north provides a natural boundary on the map.

Suburban curves
Postwar neighbourhoods fill much of the city with curving streets and cul-de-sacs. Their soft shapes contrast with the grid of the old town.
Towards the Missouri
To the north, the streets give way to the river's floodplain. It forms a quiet edge to the map.
