Switchback roads
Roads climb the slopes in repeated hairpin bends, so a short distance as the crow flies becomes a long, folded line on the map, stacked in layers across the hillside.

Gangtok Map Poster & Print
Gangtok sits along a ridge in the eastern Himalaya, and from above its streets look very different from a plains city. Roads zigzag in tight hairpins and step down the hillside in layers, following the contours. Buildings cling to narrow terraces between them. Below the town, river valleys cut deep folds into the land, and the built area thins out into forest within a short distance.
As the capital of Sikkim, Gangtok is the state's administrative centre and the usual starting point for journeys towards Tsomgo Lake and the Nathu La pass on the border with Tibet. On clear days the Kangchenjunga massif rises on the western horizon. In the city centre, MG Marg is a pedestrian street lined with shops and cafés, one of the few flat, straight lines in the town.
A Gangtok map poster turns all that vertical terrain into a flat drawing, and it still reads clearly. The tangle of looping roads, the long ridge line and the drop into the valleys make a busy, organic pattern. It looks nothing like a gridded city, and it is a clear record of a town that had to adapt to its mountain.

MG Marg
The pedestrian high street runs as a short, straight spine through the centre, a rare level corridor among streets that otherwise twist to follow the terrain.
Ridge and valleys
The town follows a long ridge, with steep valleys falling away on both sides. The density of streets changes sharply where the built area gives way to forested slopes.

Neden Gangtok
Anlam taşıyan bir harita
People who have made the trip up to Gangtok often remember the roads more than anything else, the endless bends and the sudden views. A print of those lines is a quiet reminder of the mountains, whether you lived there, studied there or passed through on the way north.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date such as a trek or a wedding, and adjust the coordinates line. Classic black & white keeps the switchbacks crisp. Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand each give the ridge a different mood.
