Town grid
The central streets follow a regular block pattern, typical of towns in northern Mexico, and form the densest and most orderly part of the map.

Hidalgo Map Poster & Print
Hidalgo is a municipality in Nuevo León, a short drive northwest of Monterrey. From above, the town lies on flat ground along the base of the Sierra Madre foothills. Its streets form a modest grid near the centre, loosening as they reach the outskirts, where dry scrubland and the dramatic rise of the mountains take over.
The town is known internationally for El Potrero Chico, a limestone canyon just outside Hidalgo whose tall walls draw rock climbers from around the world. Cement production has also long been part of the local economy. The meeting of an ordinary town grid with such sharp natural relief gives the place a distinctive profile.
A Hidalgo map poster shows that meeting clearly. The urban blocks form a steady pattern, and the roads heading towards the canyon and the ridges lead the eye away from the centre. For climbers, locals and anyone who has passed through, it is a clean, graphic record of the place.

Mountain backdrop
Beyond the last streets the map opens up where the ridges rise, leaving empty space that stands in for the steep terrain around the town.
