Uvod River
The small river winds through the centre, and several bridges cross its loops. On the poster it adds an organic curve to an otherwise orderly plan.

Ivanovo Map Poster & Print
Ivanovo lies northeast of Moscow, on both banks of the small Uvod River. From above, the river winds through the middle of the city in a series of loops, and bridges link the two halves. Around it, straight avenues run out from the centre, and large blocks of mills, workers' housing and Soviet-era districts fill the space between.
The city grew as the centre of Russia's cotton industry and was once called the Russian Manchester. In 1905 its striking textile workers formed one of the first workers' councils in the country. Ivanovo is also known as the city of brides, a name linked to the many women who worked in its mills, and for an unusual group of constructivist buildings from the 1920s and 1930s.
An Ivanovo map poster shows the city's industrial logic clearly. The broad footprints of former mills sit along the river, and the avenues cut direct lines across the plan. Rings of later housing surround the older core. In black and white, it becomes a clean diagram of a city built around work.

Mill districts
Large rectangular industrial sites line the riverbanks. They mark the former textile factories that made the city, and their broad shapes stand out against the finer residential grid.
Constructivist centre
Buildings such as the House-Ship and the House-Horseshoe stand in the central districts. The avenues around them reflect the planning ambitions of the early Soviet years.
