The Ussuri River
The Ussuri winds past the town through a broad valley, and its bends and side channels give the map a strong natural line.

Lesozavodsk Map Poster & Print
Lesozavodsk sits on the Ussuri River in Primorsky Krai, near Russia's border with China. On a map the river is the dominant line, running along the town's edge through wide floodplain. The streets form a loose grid between the water and the railway, and the built-up area gives way quickly to open country and forest.
The name means roughly "timber mill town", and it describes where the place came from. Lesozavodsk grew in the twentieth century around sawmills that processed timber from the surrounding taiga, and the railway carried the wood out. The Trans-Siberian line runs through the area, which helps explain why the town stretches along its route.
A Lesozavodsk map poster shows a working river town at the far end of Russia. The curving Ussuri, the straight railway and the plain blocks between them make a spare, readable composition. It suits people with family roots here, or anyone drawn to the remote edges of the map.

Railway spine
The railway runs through the town and anchors the street grid. It reflects Lesozavodsk's history of shipping timber out of the region.
Taiga margins
Beyond the last streets the map opens into countryside and forest, a reminder of the timber industry the town was named after.
