Valley-floor centre
The main urban area stretches along a narrow basin, so the grid is long rather than round. Parallel avenues follow the valley, and short cross streets link them.

Lincang Map Poster & Print
Lincang lies in the far south-west of Yunnan, not far from the border with Myanmar, and its urban centre occupies one of the few flat stretches in a landscape of folded mountains. From above, the city looks like a long, compact band of blocks laid along a valley. The surrounding contours press close on both sides, and roads climb out in tight switchbacks.
The wider prefecture takes its name from the Lancang River, the Chinese name for the upper Mekong, which flows through its western part. On a map of the city itself the water is smaller in scale, but the landscape works the same way. Settlement follows the valleys, and the ridges between them stay green and largely empty.
Lincang is best known as tea country. The surrounding hills produce large quantities of pu'er and Dianhong black tea, and old tea trees grow in several of its counties. A Lincang map poster shows the city at the centre of that terrain, with a dense core and streets that thin out as the slopes begin.

Switchback approaches
Roads leaving the city climb into the hills in sharp zigzags. In fine black lines on a light background, the pattern looks almost drawn by hand.
Tea hill terrain
Beyond the edges of town the map opens into sparse, winding tracks across the slopes where much of the region's tea is grown. They give the composition a quiet outer border.

Neden Lincang
Anlam taşıyan bir harita
This is a map for tea drinkers who want to see where their favourite leaves come from, and for anyone with roots in south-western Yunnan. The mountain setting gives the print a strong silhouette, even for people who have never visited.
Personalise the title and subtitle with a tea name, a harvest year or a family surname, and adjust the coordinates line. The five styles, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand, let the valley read either crisp and graphic or soft and warm.
