Lulua River
The wide river winds past the town and dominates the composition, with its bends and banks creating the strongest shapes on the poster.

Luebo Map Poster & Print
Luebo lies in Kasai Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the Lulua River, one of the main tributaries in the region. On the map, the river is the dominant feature, a broad, winding channel with the town on its banks and forested valleys along its tributaries.
The streets form a small, loose network, spread across the higher ground near the river. Beyond the town, the landscape alternates between savannah and strips of forest along the watercourses, crossed only by a few roads and tracks leading to other towns in Kasai.
Luebo has been a centre for a long time, and in the late nineteenth century it became home to one of the earliest Protestant missions in the Kasai region. A Luebo map poster shows a river town in its setting: water, a modest street network and a very large landscape around it.

Riverside settlement
The town's streets spread across the higher ground near the river, forming a loose, open network rather than a dense grid.
Gallery forests
Strips of forest follow the rivers and streams through the savannah, adding branching lines that run away from the main watercourse.
