Organic lanes
Streets grow in an irregular pattern, branching and bending with the land, which gives the map a hand-drawn, unplanned quality.

Mabote Map Poster & Print
Mabote lies in Lesotho's lowlands, the narrow strip of lower ground along the country's western side where most people live. The area is close to the capital, and on the map it shows as a mix of informal lanes, a few principal roads and plots of open land rather than a formal planned grid.
Lesotho is famous for being entirely above a thousand metres, and even its lowlands sit high. From above, the terrain shows gentle slopes and shallow drainage lines, while the land to the east rises toward the mountains that make up most of the country.
A Mabote map poster captures a lived-in, organic street pattern. The roads branch and wander, and the clusters of homes are separated by open ground. That irregularity gives the print its texture, in clear contrast with the rigid grids of many cities.

Main road links
A few stronger roads cross the area and connect it to the neighbouring districts and the capital. They act as the map's main lines.
Lowland terrain
Gentle slopes and drainage channels shape where building happens and leave open spaces that break up the street network.
