Floating bridge approach
Interstate 90 runs across the northern tip and meets the long floating bridges to Seattle. It is the one straight, heavy line on an island otherwise drawn in curves.

Mercer Island Map Poster & Print
Mercer Island lies in Lake Washington between Seattle and Bellevue, a slim landmass about five miles long surrounded by open water. From above, the shape carries the whole map. The lake presses in on every side, and the shoreline is fringed with small private docks that show up as a fine comb along the edge.
Interstate 90 crosses the north end of the island. To the west it reaches Seattle on floating bridges, and to the east it crosses the East Channel to Bellevue. The town centre sits close to that corridor. The rest of the island is mostly quiet residential streets, cul-de-sacs and ravines, with a central spine road and a loop of shore roads around the edge.
Luther Burbank Park occupies part of the northern shore, and green belts follow the steep gullies that drain to the lake. A Mercer Island map poster captures something few suburbs have: a complete, clearly bounded place, drawn in one piece and framed on all sides by water.

The shoreline loop
Shore roads wrap around the east and west sides, following the water closely. Together they trace the island's outline a short distance inland, like a second coastline.
Northern parkland
Luther Burbank Park and the greenery on the north shore form one of the largest open areas on the island, with its lawns and points reaching out into Lake Washington.
