Historic town core
The streets around the main church are tighter and more irregular than the rest of the town, a small knot of the older market settlement at the centre of the map.

Mezőkövesd Map Poster & Print
Mezőkövesd sits where the Great Hungarian Plain starts to rise towards the Bükk hills, in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county. From above, you can read the town's past as an agricultural market town. A compact core surrounds the main church, and long, straight streets of single-storey houses run outwards with deep plots behind them, the traditional layout of settlements on the plain.
The town is best known as the home of the Matyó, whose richly coloured embroidery and folk costume are recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. South of the centre, the Zsóry thermal spa forms its own small district of pools, parkland and holiday houses. The railway to Miskolc passes along the town's southern side.
A Mezőkövesd map poster removes the colour the Matyó are famous for and shows the structure underneath it: the dense old streets, the orderly strips of house plots and the separate cluster of the spa. Reduced to line and space, the town still has a clear, careful rhythm, which is part of what makes it recognisable.

Long plot streets
Straight residential streets with deep, narrow plots stretch outwards. This pattern is typical of the Hungarian plain and shows up as a finely striped texture.
Zsóry spa district
The thermal bath area stands slightly apart from the town, a looser cluster of pools, paths and green space that gives the composition a second focus.
