Washington Road
The main commercial artery runs roughly north to south through the township, anchoring the Uptown district and serving as the clearest straight line in an otherwise curving street plan.

Mount Lebanon Map Poster & Print
Mount Lebanon lies in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, a township that grew in the early twentieth century once streetcars made the commute into the city practical. Its map shows that origin clearly. Streets curve around the contours of steep hills, lots are compact, and neighbourhoods fill almost every part of the municipality, with parks and a public golf course forming the larger green spaces.
Washington Road runs through the middle as the main commercial spine, and the Uptown business district along it gives the township a small-town centre of shops and restaurants. Pittsburgh's light-rail system, known locally as the T, crosses the community, partly in a tunnel beneath the Uptown area, a legacy of the streetcar lines that shaped the suburb in the first place.
On a Mount Lebanon map poster the pattern is dense but never rigid. The streets loop, fork and terrace across the hills, a typical western Pennsylvania suburb where the grid gave way to topography. Parkland interrupts the texture, and the main roads read as clear threads through it. The township is widely known for its public schools, a reason many families settle here.

The T light rail
Pittsburgh's light-rail line crosses the community and dips into a tunnel under the Uptown area, a direct descendant of the streetcar routes that first opened these hills to commuters.
Contoured streets
Residential roads wrap around the South Hills in arcs and loops, following slopes rather than a grid, which gives the whole map a soft, flowing texture.
